Soda Fired Vase Cobalt Blue/Black 7-8"

Hand thrown classic vase shapes with a sturdy neck/rim. These were coated in a dark clay and cobalt slip and fired in a soda kiln. The more soda ash that comes into contact with the slip, the more blue it goes, where as the black sides are where less soda action happened. All vases have some blue and some black. They were fired on their sides on seashells, which leave some marks and make for dramatic directional effects of the glaze running sideways as opposed to down, as is normally the case. Kiln placement is important for this process so these may take a bit longer to restock than most of my items.
